In order to coach you need to hold a current coaching qualification.

The RFL supports the UK Coaching Framework and all our awards are based on this national agreement.

These UK Coaching Certificates (UKCC) are nationally recognised awards within sport and meet National Occupational Standards.

This the minimum qualification for those who run or wish to run Rugby League coaching sessions. The course is suitable for parents, volunteers and those with limited experience of the game and coaching. 

The UKCC Level 1 has changed recently and is now mainly a course for those wanting to coach U11 or below. The course focuses on how to coach, the core skills of rugby league, and the athletic development of young players. It provides coaches with fun games, warm ups and athletic development exercises to use with their players.
