RLLA
Rugby League Leaders Award
Introduction
The rationale behind the RLLA is the current changes in how Key Stage 4 Physical Activity is being delivered in schools. Students have a responsibilty to develop their own independant learning, volunteering and leadership skills and teachers needing to ensure they are not only providing a performance pathway but also opportunities to experience the roles of coaches, match officials and administrators.
Currently many schools offer the CCPR Community Sports Leaders Award or the Junior Sports Leaders Award. Due to the demands being placed on Rugby Football League the Coach Education Departments have developed a stand alone Sports Specific Award - The Rugby League Leaders Award.
Course Structure
It is intended the award be delivered by a course director who is either a Teacher, Coach Educator or a suitably qualified and approved adult.
The course will include the following modules;
Introduction
Leadership
Coaching
Match Officials
Festival Organisation
In addition it is anticipated that further practical involvement is required in the form of a festival or primary school delivery.
The course director can use his or her discretion to amend the programme or alter the delivery method to suit the needs of the pupils.
